FORECAST SUMMARY

We're saving the best weather for last for this three-day holiday weekend, with plenty of sunshine expected for Labor Day Monday, and for much of the upcoming week. Now our Sunday won't be a lost cause weather-wise, as there will be plenty of drier times throughout the day. However, we'll start the day with clouds, which of course we've had plenty of each of the last three days, and a few scattered showers or a rumble of thunder. Some sun should break out by midday, with a partly sunny, warm, and sticky Sunday afternoon expected, which may in turn pop a late day t-storm, especially points south from the Lehigh Valley. As a cold front conducts a clean sweep overnight, it will sweep any clouds, raindrops, and the higher humidity away. In its place, a big bubble of high pressure means no trouble with respect to our weather from Labor Day Monday through at least Thursday, with plenty of sun and plenty of comfort. Highs will be squarely in the 70s for most of the week, with cool and comfy overnight lows either side of the 50-degree mark. By week's end, we'll watch two features, a low pressure off the East Coast and a cold front over the Great Lakes, each or possibly together bring our next chance of wet weather, with some rain or rain showers possible Friday and Saturday depending on how these two features interact.

DETAILED FORECAST

SUNDAY

Sunday will begin with the same cloudy skies we've had since Thursday, and there will be a few spotty showers or even a rumble of thunder not out of the question. However, most rain will be light, scattered, and brief, with clouds breaking for some sun by the middle part of the day. It will be seasonably warm and still humid with highs around 80-85°. Despite the gray start and the chance of an additional spotty late-day t-storm, mainly from southern PA to South Jersey, there should be a good amount of the day in between that stays mostly dry. It's probably the warmest and stickiest day of an increasingly cool and comfy forecast for most of the rest of the week ahead.

SUNDAY NIGHT

A secondary cold front will sweep through overnight, and bring partly to mostly clear skies with lowering humidity levels. So it turns comfier overnight, with lows down to around the 60-degree mark by morning, and some upper 50s likely north of the Lehigh Valley.

LABOR DAY

We're saving the best for last this holiday weekend, with plenty of sunshine for our Labor Day Monday, complete with refreshingly low humidity too. Highs will be cooler and in the mid 70s, with a somewhat brisk north-northwest breeze around 10-20mph helping to provide the comfier airmass. Lows Monday night, with clear skies and light winds expected as high pressure builds in, should dip to around the 50-degree mark, including some upper 40s in the normally cooler spots.

TUESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY

It's back to work and school for many after the long holiday weekend, and it looks like a nice stretch of weather for the middle of the first week of September. Look for mostly sunny skies each day, light winds, low humidity, and dry and pleasant weather. It will be a touch cool for early September, when our average high is normally closer to the 80-degree mark. Instead, we'll see mid 70s for Tuesday and Wednesday, then inching into the upper 70s come Thursday. Nighttime lows, under clear skies, should remain close to the 50-degree mark. Enjoy the nice late summer stretch, which will certainly have hints of an early fall feel.

FRIDAY AND SATURDAY

Mostly cloudy skies return for the end of the week and into the start of next weekend, thanks to a cold front approaching from the Great Lakes, and a low pressure sneaking up the East Coast. It's still uncertain how these two features may interact, but they should spell at least the chance for some rain or rain showers, which could be light and scattered but could also be something steadier. That interaction should hopefully become clearer as it gets closer, with highs remaining in the 70s through Saturday regardless.
