My son was on Kendamil GOAT since 3 months old due to his CMPA ( cows milk protein allergy ) and unfortunately there is a shortage on his milk nationallly. I managed to find his formula but it’s for toddlers instead, 12-36 months. I wasn’t really wanting to get it especially since I read it’s not FDA approved and he’s barely going to be 11 months ( on the 22nd ) .. I tried plant based enfamil and soy , he absolutely hated it and vomited it up and pooped 6ish times. I went back to the store to get the Kendamil goat toddler.
Unfortunately EBT doesn’t cover it ( I was able to get the infant version with ebt , and WIC never accepted his Dr note for Kendamil ) when the baby turns one we planned to do almond milk. We had no other smart choice but to just try it today. It was successful. I did get the vanilla one just because I knew he wouldn’t take the unsweetened one at first. I’m diluting it with water ofc. I feel bad that it’s the only option and there’s no formula that will work for him. Pls no judgement, just answers and advice. Can this damage him alot ??? I do like to mention he eats a lot of table food, and he only has 3-4 6oz bottles a day

my son couldn’t tolerate milk and Wic didn’t cover enough cans to last him a month. So when he was around 11 months old we switched to almond then talked to his pediatrician and she recommended oat milk with added calcium. He’s now a healthy 5 year old. Do what you need to mama

I don’t have a recommendation for right now, but for when you transition from formula. My girl has CMPA as well and as a toddler we’ve been giving her Ripple milk, if you can find it. Our pediatrician recommended it because it’s the most nutritionally similar to cows milk. She loves it!

@Mommy-Bri-,
Just wanted to say something just in case! I grabbed the Kid's one when it first came out because the added DHA seemed nice but the I checked label and was like Noooo why?!?

did u ever try the allergy formula?
wic doesn't take it ,because they have a contract with specific manufacturers. unfortunately kendamil isn't one of them. it's also not highly available.
I believe Walmart has it and it's ebt eligible even online.
Kendamil Whole Milk Baby Formula Powder, European with HMOs, Prebiotics, No Palm Oil or Soy, with DHA, 28.2oz https://goto.walmart.com/c/1442498/565706/9383?u=https%3a%2f%2fwww.walmart.com%2fip%2f1357250428&subid1=community

@hehejeejje76,
all brands, should have an allergy formula that works with cmpa, my 4th child had it. he would throw up out of his ears, and nose since birth from drinking milk. allergy formula was the only thing that worked for him and my cousin's baby. who was also allergic to cows milk. luckily it was only temporary. my now 7 yr old can drink milk with no problem

I wouldn’t worry about switching to toddler milk at this point. If you want to you can but it is likely fine to just skip it! Remember though babies over 12 months are able to get all of their nutrition through solids. Milk can be an easy way to get calories but it’s certainly not required! If youre considering doing the milk ladder soon then I would probably just stick to what you’re doing/do the kendamil toddler. Is it sold out on the Kendamil website?

in australia they say those estimate ages on the formula all gimmick and $$ driven. my paediatrician told me to keep my daughter on stage 1 newborn-12 months for how ever long i wanted to give formula over cows milks. as we had a shortage of formula when covid happened. so till 3 she was on stage 1 no issues! she’s so smart & healthy.

we changed ours to step up formula early, no problems
our one says it's for 1-3 year olds, but also has instructions for 9 month olds, and honestly, there's not much difference in terms of nutrition
by 11 months, your kid is pretty much the same as a 1 year old anyway; there's no magical change that happens on their birthday, so don't worry about bending these things a bit if you have to
