What's the Story of your username? :D — MTG Forum (2024)

Druing High School, I was 5'6"....

and Had size 13 Shoes (USA). I looked like characters from Kingdom Hearts. Now, I'm 5'9", with size 13, so that helps a little. But one of my friends called me that from freshman year on and I've used it as a gamertag ever since.

only a couple years afterwards I discovered it's also a way to skateboard/snowboard. seeing as I can't skateboard, and I never have been snowboarding, I should probably pick it up one of these days, but ehh....

My old username actually has a story. It was m12fox and now i have changed it because the name was outdated. Anyways, my initials are m. f. and my last name is fox. So, i had mfox, then i added the 12 because my first core set when i knew what a set was, was m12 so that is how i got my old username. Now i use this one, well, i guess i will change it to my normal miracleHat. Yes, there is a capital "H".

that's actually cool. My best friend Adam had the same exact issue. He has to order his shoes online because no where we grew up even carried his size!

GoldGhost012 says... #5

My username is all about Pokemon, the non-Magic love of my life. Even the colors.

"Gold" refers to Gold, my favorite character from the manga Pokemon Adventures. The colors reflect the colors of his hat- like an Ultra Ball.

"Ghost" refers to one of my all-time favorite Pokemon, Gengar. Cause, you know, Ghost-type. The purple in it is a little darker than usual, cause I have a legit shiny Gengar (which, ironically, is more of a dark blue than purple).

"012" is not only pretty much my entire family's favorite number, but it's also double the number of my favorite Pokemon, Charizard. 006 + 006 = 012. It's also red because Charizard and fire.

TheHiketeia says... #6

My user name is a reference to a Wonder Woman comic written by Greg Rucka, wherein she beats the snot out of Batman for going after her ward. It's been my internet handle and gaming handle since I started high school.

It particularly fits my love of the Theros mythology too, since The Hiketeia is supposedly a sacred vow a Greek could pledge to beg for protection from an individual.

My username comes from the early 17th century Spanish novel Don Quixote de la Mancha. Caraculiambro was an ancient giant who had once been the lord of the island of Malindrania. Centuries ago, Caraculiambro had been defeated by Don Quixote. As the giant race was being exterminated all across Europe, Caraculiambro was granted mercy by becoming servant and bodyguard to Dulcinea del Toboso, a Spanish noblewoman and Quixote's lover.

@Caraculiambro, i didn't know what the name meant, honestly. I just had a feeling that it was some spanish/mexican reference, it just had that feel whenever you said the name.

koth_of_the_bummer says... #9

As for mine, I use to put Koth of the Hammer on my Modern Burn Deck way back. But then, I just feel he is a "bummer" in the deck since I rarely ever cast him and even if I do, he just gets killed right away.

Hence, is the origin of my username =)

lol I see all these good stories and mine is just my given nickname and a number a tiny horoscope book told me that's lucky.

Fenizrael says... #11

Well, when I started playing World of Warcraft back in about 2005, I made a character and wanted to name him after something cool. At first I picked 'Azrael' (the Angel of Death) but that was obviously taken, so I tried to pick 'Fenix' from Starcraft; surprise surprise, also taken. Then I mooshed them together and got Fenixrael, then when I had to make another character I chose Fenizrael. I ended up liking Fenizrael more so I stuck with it ever since. It also happens to be pretty much universally unique now so I never have to worry about it being taken.

The magic bullet perspective, also called the hypodermic needle model, is a model for communications. Magic bullet theory has been around since the 1920s to explain &;how mass audiences might react to mass media,&; reports Media Know All. According to University of Twent in the Netherlands, the theory states that mass media has a & direct, immediate and powerful effect on its audiences.

I am graduating with a degree in mass comm in May. This name fits me for its double meaning

-Logician says... #13

I thoroughly enjoyed one particular brain teaser video by Khan Academy that I once came across. Part of the brain teaser defines a "Logician" as someone who always has a perfect sense of logic and cannot be fooled. I found the idea difficult to imagine, but very interesting at the same time. I'm a big fan of logic and deductions, and decided I liked the name as one of my internet profiles. I use Logician as my name on tappedout as well as my name on Steam and anything that correlates to something I do in my spare time (or anytime I want to establish a web-presence unprofessionally).

DrLitebur says... #15

For me, DrLitebur is a RPG character I made for the tabletop game Deadlands, the spaghetti western with meat. He was a half-crazy German born inventor who liked to blow people and baddies up with little balls of nitroglycerin, either hand thrown or launched via some crazy method. When I started going to sites and using my usual email thing, I kept finding it taken, so after trying everything I could think of, I ended up using Doc. I have used this persona in online V:TM, for web pages, and sites I have been a part of.

Cool stories. I like story time.

My SN is a play on words. The guy that got me back into M:TG after a nine year hiatus was Emrakul, the Aeons Torn. I'm almost an Old Fogey and have been playing since Revised or so. I 'may' have been drinking on some good bourbon when I coined the name... Hence 'tore my liver.'

Kinda lame I guess lol.

Valentine35 says... #18

Growing up AOL screen names were a big thing. Me and my friends absolutely loved the Resident Evil video games, so we each picked the last name of a Resident Evil character. I obviously picked Jill Valentine.

The 35 is a bit of a stretch. my lucky number was 8 because when its turned sideways its the infinity symbol, but way back in the day when we made our screen names Valentine8 was already taken so i chose 35 since 3+5=8. Ever since then my lucky number has been 35.

I use it for everything now. Unfortunately my Xbox gamertag that was Valentine35 got hacked and has since been changed. And my email i had for too long and was getting way too much spam.

Cool Story bro.

April 2, 2014 6:56 a.m.

A long time ago, there was a website called WiiDebate. I was one of the first members, and went by the name of Smashlooser101 (I think). This was a while back, and we spent most of our time speculating on what the upcoming game Super Smash Brothers: Brawl would bring to the franchise. My username on the guitar hero 3 website was slashmaster101 or something similar. Eventually, I shortened it to Smash, but had to add the 10101 because Smash101 was taken somewhere, and it sort of stuck. I now use Smash10101 for pretty much everything (except Steam, where I just use my real name, and twitch, where I am Smash1010101). I honestly don't remember how I came up with the slashmaster or whatever came first. I used to use danman (guess what my name is), but got bored of it or something.

I got my username when I was signing up for Skype. Matsi is a blend of my first and last names, and matsi was taken, so I had to choose a number, and it recommended 883. so I took it.

My name is old as hell. Back in early 2007, when PS3 came out I had to make a gamer tag to play call of duty. I used to skateboard, so I said "gnarly" a lot.

Well, after f*cking around with making a gamer tag and having PSN telling me that "this username is already taken" for somewhere around a couple hours, my wife walked in and said... Just make your name "gnarlicide".

She literally made up a word and I typed it in. And what do you know? It was available! I guess I could say that gnarlicide means something is so gnarly, that it kills, lol.

I have used it ever since, so if you are trying to add people on literally any game; you can type in gnarlicide and guarantee that you are talking to me.

Mine was a randomly generated name from when I played Dark Age of Camelot. I liked the sound of it, so I chose it.

Then I found out that the name was never taken in any other game, so I kept using it. My main character is always "Meecht," but my alts become the names of my other characters from DAoC (also randomly generated): Eowam, Angees, and Angam.

Dalektable says... #24

My username is literally just a joke my girlfriend told me on valentines day last year. As a part of it she found a ton of Doctor Who related pick up lines online (I have a great relationship, lol) and was telling me them throughout the day. One that stuck was something along the lines of "I think you're dalektable!" like the word "delectable". Since then I've loved it, and i decided to use it for this. As a result it's ended up being used for all of my MTG and Doctor Who related usernames.

Originally though, (and for all my other websites) I use JakeSlytherclaw. I use Jake because, well it's my name. And Slytherclaw is a combination of my two hogwarts houses, Slytherin and Ravenclaw...yeah, I'm a nerd in basically every aspect of life.

GoldGhost012 I have fallen in love with your username.

Alright, here's my story about how my life got flipped, turned upside down... Wait, that's The Fresh Prince.

When I was younger I had been playing Halo (the first one) with some friends, when you leave the game going it will do it's screensaver thing by showing footage of people playing against each other. There were a couple of funny ones like "TheGuardians" (a reference to an error in the game that will just auto-kill you and force a respawn) but one name stuck out: OhTheNoises. Ever since that has been my handle on almost everything. It's almost never taken and it's fairly unique.

Now you know.

And it's stuck ever since. Kinda wish it didn't now that I'm actually too cool for that little kid sh*t.

My username is a bit odd really. I would change it, but I can't be bothered as I've already set up an email account with it as the name, it's my name on co*ckatrice, and I've also managed to make a bit of a name for myself on this site. It's all too much effort.

Anyway, my name basically comes from the first homebrew I ever made, which was some crappy R/G ramp deck. Some of you guys may have seen it in it's current form on my homepage, but it was way worse back then. Anyway, the main fatties in that deck at the time were Primeval Titan and Inferno Titan. My inner Timmy and Spike loved those guys, so that's where the first bit of my name came from. The second bit came to be because I was tired and couldn't think of anything better to stick on the end of "Titans".
